| 作品の中の色使いについて リー氏へのファンレター： Last year I read "Faces Under Water". It was a very exciting and an heroic fantasy story for me. The colors in the story, especially the many blues - enchantVenice and made this old city to Venus in another earth. 昨年「Ｆａｃｅｓ Ｕｎｄｅｒ Ｗａｔｅｒ」を読みました。私にとっては、のめり込んでいくようなストーリーのヒロイックなファンタシーでした。作品の中の色使い、特に幾つもの青が、ヴェニスに魔法をかけて、どこか別の地球のヴェヌスに変えていったようです。 リー氏からの返信： I do concentrate on use of colour in a lot of my work. In "Faces Under Water" I used a lot of blue, as you point out, and kept red and gold until the last sequence on the island of San Fumo. In the second book, "St Fire", it was blue I kept until the end - there is no blue in the book until the last section. The Paradys books are the same, only more so, as each is restricted to one colour, plus black and white: Book One - in each of the novellas - red, yellow, and blue. Book Two - green and purple, Book three - black and white only. Book four - orange. そう、多くの私の作品の中で、色を意識して使っています。 「Ｆａｃｅｓ Ｕｎｄｅｒ Ｗａｔｅｒ」では、あなたが指摘した通り、たくさんの青を使いました。そして、赤と黄金を最後のシークエンスまで取っておいたのです。第二巻である「Ｓｔ． Ｆｉｒｅ」では、逆に青が最後まで取ってあります。この本では、最終章にいたるまで、ただの一つの青も無いのです。 「パラディスの書」でも同じです。ほとんどそれぞれの作品で、一つか二つの色、プラス黒と白に限っています。第一の書では、それぞれの作品ごとに、赤、黄、青であり、第二の書では、緑と紫、第三の書では黒と白のみ、そして、第四の書ではオレンジなのです。  |
